Consulting teams usually know the questions that cause a programme to stall: Which source is authoritative? Does a sales-area attribute apply to every customer? What proof closes this migration risk? What is affected by a small field change? The trouble is that the answers often leave with the project team or remain embedded in client workbooks.

Reusable delivery knowledge is not the same as copying client data. It is a controlled method, a tested model pattern, and a set of review questions that can travel safely to the next engagement.

What is safe to reuse

A consulting practice can build reusable, client-safe assets around generic concepts: a canonical object pattern for attributes and field endpoints; validation rules for known SAP contexts; a migration finding taxonomy; a decision template; synthetic examples; test cases; report structures; and acceptance criteria for a pilot or handover.

What should not travel is client data, credentials, private implementation details, or unreviewed project assumptions. The repository should make that distinction visible. Canonical model files should reference the evidence appropriate to the client engagement, while generic modules remain separate and documented.

Why a model registry helps

Martenweave gives a practice a source-controlled location for its reusable model method. The practice can build a starter repository for a customer, supplier, material, or logistics scenario; add deterministic checks; generate reports and derived indexes; and capture approved decisions as model objects rather than as only a slide or ticket.

The aim is not to automate consulting judgement away. It is to make the evidence chain more repeatable: a finding links to the affected model object, source evidence, review owner, decision, and controlled proposal. A later project begins with a tested structure rather than a blank workbook.

A practical engagement sequence

Begin with one representative model slice and a real delivery concern. Establish what may be safely modelled, which artefacts count as evidence, who reviews a finding, and what output proves the pilot helped. Validate the model. Use a gap, trace, impact, or decision report in a real review. Then package only the reusable method—not the client’s confidential content.

For example, a consultancy may create a synthetic Business Partner starter pack that captures common contexts and validation expectations. During a client programme, it adds a private project repository with that client’s source endpoints, mappings, decisions, and approvals. The shared starter pack stays generic; the client model stays controlled by the agreed repository and delivery governance.

When this approach is not enough

A reusable model registry does not replace a client’s MDM platform, catalogue, project-management system, or enterprise architecture repository. It also does not eliminate the need for qualified SAP and data-governance judgement. If the client needs operational mastering or enterprise catalogue adoption, the consulting method should integrate with those systems rather than pretending to displace them.

Engagement paths

Teams can adopt the open-source Core directly, run a bounded pilot, commission project-specific extensions or custom domain packs, design a limited integration, seek implementation support, or explore a development partnership. The commercial-services path is optional and does not restrict use of the Apache-licensed Core.
